Monday, April 6th, the VFW in Trenton hosts a Veterans session to help Veterans with any questions and help with any paperwork they may have.

Wayne Kleinschmidt, Veterans Service Officer at the Trenton VFW, said the officer’s duties are to “help Veterans from active military all the way to WWII Vets with anything from VA paperwork to helping them get connected with state and local programs that they don’t know who to contact.”

Kleinschmidt also said the services provided by the Veterans Service Officer are for the family of the Veteran as well. They help with the transition back into civilian life after battle and military service. These services are very beneficial to the Veteran and his or her family.

The session is from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Hy-Vee in Trenton. They are located at 1617 E. 9th St. A VA shuttle will help with transportation for those who need it, but it is on a first-com-first-serve basis. Contact 816-922-2449 to schedule a ride, or call Kleinschmidt at 660-359-2078 for further assistance.

Kleinschmidt also said that a Veterans service officer is housed full time in Trenton Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Contact Kleinschmidt at 660-359-2078 for information.
