According to the highway patrol, the suspect, later identified as Justin Parker, 37, of Raytown, was spotted traveling west on I-470 around 12:00 p.m. He struck a fence a short time later near Blue Ridge Boulevard and Bannister Road.

The report alleged Parker attempted to reverse the vehicle, narrowly missing one of the officers. Troopers fired several rounds before Parker fled again. He abandoned the vehicle and ran toward a local pharmacy. The investigation revealed Parker stole alcohol before attempting to carjack another victim in the CVS parking lot.

Parker was taken into custody without further incident. He’s accused of assault on a law enforcement officer, stealing a motor vehicle, an active warrant for car theft, felony driving while intoxicated, and other traffic-related charges.

Troopers were not injured in the incident.
