A vehicle being driven in a reckless manner caught the attention of a Boone County Sheriff’s Deputy last night. When the deputy attempted to pull the driver over, a brief high speed pursuit began. Then, the driver abruptly stopped the vehicle and the occupants fled on foot. Both were taken into custody a short time later. Authorities report the driver, 27-year-old Andre London of Columbia, did not have a valid driver’s license. The passenger of the vehicle, a 16-year-old juvenile, also fled the vehicle when it stopped. He was found to be in possession of a package of Cocaine and had previously been reported as a runaway. When the juvenile was detained and placed in the patrol vehicle, he kicked the assisting Deputy in the leg. The Deputy was not injured. London was arrested for Careless and Imprudent Driving, Operating a Vehicle without a License, Littering, Resisting Arrest, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. The juvenile was referred to the Juvenile Justice Authorities for Runaway, Assault against a Law Enforcement Officer, Resisting Arrest, and Possession of a Controlled Substance. His name was not released.
