DEKALB COUNTY, Mo – More than two dozen individuals were indicted yesterday by a grand jury in Dekalb County for their involvement in a May 2018 riot at the Crossroads Correctional Center in Cameron, Missouri.
According to a press release by Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmidt, Department of Correction employees analyzed thousands of hours of video to identify each offender and the illegal acts committed by them. According to court records, illegal acts committed by inmates included attacking fellow inmates with metal trays, kicking in doors, striking windows with paddles, ramming carts into doors, damaging drink machines with metal pans and unlawful operation of a forklift. An estimated $1.3 million dollars worth of damage was done during the riot.
Future court proceedings have not been scheduled.
