INDEPENDENCE, Mo – The shooting of a 16-year-old near Van Horn School in Independence Monday afternoon, September 19, shortly preceded a police chase that began in that immediate vicinity, and ended in Kansas City.
Javon Reilly was reportedy walking a girl home when he was shot. Shortly afterward, according to John Syme with Independence Police, a police chase began in Independence, ending in the metro area causing several crashes.
One school bus was in a wreck with a police car. The children in the bus, who were 6-8 yrs old, were not hurt. At Barry Road and North Troost, police took into custody two suspects.
Authorities are not sure if the two incidents are related.
