LIVINGSTON COUNTY, Mo. – Avoiding a deer caused a serious crash in Livingston County early Sunday morning.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Melanie Bryant, 52, of Linneus was eastbound on Highway K, East of Chula around 2:40 a.m. when she swerved to avoid the deer. The vehicle went off the right side of the roadway and struck a tree.
Bryant refused treatment for minor injuries but her passenger, James McConnell, 58, of Geneva Florida was transported to Hedrick Medical Center with serious injuries.
Brayant was taken into custody by Highway Patrol for informal charges of driving while intoxicated, resulting in an injury. Additional charges included, assault 2nd degree, failure to drive on the proper half of a roadway, and no seat belt.
