Several recommendations by the Clean Up Sedalia Committee go into effect Tuesday. Click to hear KMZU’s Sarah Scott speak with Chairperson Mary Merritt:
Merritt said they went before the council in August with big plans. “Change the height requirements for grass and weeds, change the definition of rubbish, change the city ordinance to allow building materials to be picked up, to develop a neighborhood clean-up plan, eliminate vehicles parked in violation of city code, eliminate a pick-up-on-demand with the neighborhood program, add code enforcement personnel, and consider contracting for the use of prisoners in the clean-up program,” said Merritt.
Two of those recommendations have been approved. As of Monday, grass is limited to a height of eight inches and the definition of rubbish has been expanded to include indoor furniture that is left outside.
