SWEET SPRINGS, Mo.- On June 22, 2018, formal charges were filed in Saline County Circuit Court against two Sweet Springs men on allegations of sexual encounters with a minor.

Kurtis A.G. Walden, 19, was served a warrant today on a single felony count of  first degree statutory rape or attempted rape with a victim less than 14 years of age-aggravated sexual offense with bond set at $50,000 cash-only with conditions.

Kenneth L.A. Walden, 27, was also served a warrant but on two felony charges including statutory rape and statutory sodomy both in the second degree with bond set at $25,000 cash-only.

According filed probable cause statements, sometime in November of 2017, Kurtis Walden, was at a residence in Sweet Springs when he allegedly went into the basement with the victim and proceeded to have sexual intercourse. During the investigation, authorities allege that Kurtis continued to  contact the victim, prior to charges, and harrassed both the victim and the victim’s family. There is also a case pending against Kurtis in Cass County for sexual assault on a minor.

On June 19, 2018, officers with the Sweet Springs Police Department responded to a residence in which it was reported that Kenneth Walden allegedly forced a victim to have sex with him in the city park bathroom sometime in May of this year. On June 20, 2018, during an interview Kenneth was also accused of forcibly touching the victim in a sexual manner at a residence before following the victim over to the city park.

Both Kurtis and Kenneth Walden appeared for scheduled arraignments today in Saline County Circuit Court and counsel status hearings were scheduled for both defendants on June 27, 2018, at 9:00 a.m. They remain in custody at the Saline County Jail until bond is posted.
