JOHNSON COUNTY, Mo. — Two young children were among four people injured in a two-vehicle accident in Johnson County Monday afternoon.

Shortly before 1:40 p.m. Monday, Missouri State Highway Patrol reports being summoned to eastbound US 50 Highway at the west junction of Business 50 Highway. Upon arrival, they discovered a vehicle driven by Blue Springs resident Elizabeth Gerhard, 22, failed to yield to and eventually struck a vehicle driven by Christopher Shelden, 31 and of Odessa.

Shelden received moderate injuries, for which he was transported to Research Medical Center Kansas City via ambulance. Two passengers in Shelden’s vehicle – both under three years of age – received minor injuries, as did Gerhard. They were also transported to the hospital by ambulance for treatment.
