The University of Missouri will host the 2013 Johnson County Heart Walk Saturday, October 5th at the UCM Student Recreation and Wellness Center. The walk will kick off at 9 a.m. and registration begins at 8 a.m. Hundreds of people have registered to take part in this event to show their support for friends and loved ones who are affected by cardiovascular disease and stroke.

UCM graduated and American Heart Association staff member Amanda Avent is leading the Heart Walk Committee and she says this year’s goal is to raise more than $50,000. The monies will go to support life-saving initiatives that are funded by the AHA.
