The University of Central Missouri will be hosting an exposition that shines a light on difficult social issues. Director of the Show-Me Justice Film Festival Mark von Schlemmer says professionals and amateurs were invited to submit their work for the event and all the submissions have serious meaning, whether documentaries, narratives, or shorts. Submissions have come from all over the world according to von Schlemmer.

Films shed light on the topics of racism, poverty, substance abuse, and sexism and von Schlemmer says that’s the point of the festival, to bring the issues to the front of people’s minds to enact change.

The exposition begins on October 13th and runs through the 15th. You can find out more about the purpose and history of the festival at the festival homepage here.
