hitman-scamKANSAS CITY, Mo – A Maryville woman will spend time in federal prison after admitting to a plot in which she tried to have another person killed.

The attorney for the U.S. Justice Department’s Western Missouri District, Tammy Dickinson, says the case against Kristina M. Swinford, 33, of Maryville was investigated using undercover agents.  According to court documents, Swinford met with the undercover agent to discuss ways to kill the wife of an ex-boyfriend.  Thinking she was speaking with an assassin-for-hire, Swinford had agreed to pay the agent up to $20,000 dollars to kill the intended victim.

Swinford pleaded guilty in May this year to the charges.  She will face eight years and six months in federal prison.
