The experience will give area youth the opportunity to work with a professional band and, according to Cavanah,  Boston Brass will present some unique opportunities to her students.  “What I love is that although they are professionals who travel the world and live all over the country, they understand what it’s like to be in the public schools, ” said Cavanah, ” They really want to reach out to the students and are truly strong advocates for music education.  I have seen the kids’ reaction to their teachings and they’re just really turned on by what they have to offer.”

The band also hopes to present a unique experience to their audience during the evening performance.  “In terms of the solo stuff we will be doing, the first half will consist of classical music with a Latin influence including some pieces by Piazzola, ” said Conner,  “The second half will be jazz with pieces by Dave Brubeck and Duke Ellington, as well as some blues.”

One of the highlights will be combined performances with the high school band in the second half of the show.

Tickets for the March 6th event are available in advance at the High School Office at a cost of $8 for adults and $6 for children.  Those prices will increase slightly at the door that evening.
