UPDATE (2:30 p.m. 7/25/16) A KMZU listener provided a photo of the Chillicothe Fire Department raising a flag in memory of Ed Cosgrove, the 15-year veteran of the department on 65 Highway at the Highway 36 overpass. Updates on a formal memorial will be given as details are made available.

UPDATE (11 p.m.- 7/24/16)

The Green Township Fire Protection District announced the death of Ed Cosgrove, who was a 15- year veteran of the department, who succumbed to injuries sustained in the incident.

The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office has released a press release regarding the Sunday morning accident. According to the release Deputy Dustin Woelfle arrived to provide assistance in the fire. The driver of the RV reported having removed propane tanks from the vehicle, and emergency fire began responding. The RV owner then, according to the report, told the deputy that there might still be some small propane bottles in the camper. Deputy Woelfle stopped traffic in time as at least one smaller propane bottle exploded and went through the side of the camper. During this fire response Woelfle reported that one of the emergency responders had a medical emergency where CPR and first-aid were provided until EMS services arrived.

Deputy Woelfle reported an emergency responder had a medical emergency where CPR and first aid were provided until Chillicothe Department of Emergency Services arrived to transport.

LIVINGSTON COUNTY, Mo – Reports of a camper on fire were received at 11:15 a.m. . Emergency crews are reportedly on the scene of the accident, on Hwy-36, west of Chillicothe and it has blocked both lanes of traffic. This accident appears to be west of the Grand River Bridge. KMZU has contacted the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office in regards to this incident and have not hear back, making this report unconfirmed by officials.
