The Saline County Commissioners have had a wide range of projects on their agenda this week.  Click to hear KMZU’s Kristie Cross talk to Commissioner Norvelle “Browie” Brown:

The commissioners finalized the acceptance of bids for various services at the sheriff’s department and tried to keep the business local when they were able to do so.  “Gas bids will go to Thomas Oil here in Marshall,”said Brown,”We had three garages bid for service on automobiles including oil changes, tire repairs, and labor and we authorized two of those.  One is Elmer Hare Ford garage and the other is Thurman Automotive.  The Food Services went to Springfield Grocery and their salesman is a resident of Sweet Springs.”

In other business, the commissioners are working on fulfilling the remaining details of the contract on the courthouse renovation project.  There continues to be issues with the coating that has been placed on the sandstone.  Commissioners are not yet satisfied with a solution, but are continuing to work with the architect to correct the problem.  They also met with county roads and bridge supervisor Justin Cowart regarding the completion of a bridge replacement in the Northwest part of the county.
