(UPDATE: 01/11/17 12:27 p.m)- Grandview High School, in southeast Kansas City, was placed on lockdown this morning after a gun was discharged in a gym locker room.
The lockdown began this morning just before 9:00 a.m. The school has released a statement saying a gun was discharged accidently at the high school.
Reports indicate all students are safe and accounted for. Investigation into the incident is ongoing at this time and the gun has been secured.
Grandview High school students were let out around 11:30 p.m. today
“The safety of our students and staff is our top priority. Currently, an investigation is in process and student discipline will take place according to board policy and statute,” district spokeswoman Sheba Clarke said.

Multiple parents have received a message from the school district informing them about the lockdown. No details have been released as to what could have initiated the lockdown.
