(UPDATE: 04/24/17 07:04 p.m.)- BOONVILLE, Mo. (AP) — The Missouri State Highway Patrol says two people died when a small crashed in central Missouri.

Patrol spokesman Sgt. Scott White says the plane went down Monday afternoon on Highway 98 as it approached Jesse Viertel Memorial Airport near Boonville.

White says the pilot, Charles McCutcheon, 67, of Fayette, and passenger Bryan Roth, 49, of Franklin, were killed.

Federal authorities will be at the site Tuesday to determine the cause of the crash.

Highway 98 was closed for several hours after the crash but reopened after the plane was removed.

 

COOPER COUNTY, Mo.- Around 2:00 p.m., The Cooper County, Mo., Emergency Management Facebook page reported a small-engine plane crash near a highway in county limits.

The report urges motorists to avoid Highway 98 near Rocheport Rd, just east of Boonville, Mo.

Contact was made with the Cooper County Sheriff’s Office and no information was currently available and officials would not confirm if emergency personnel are still on scene.
