UPDATE: (08/31/18, 1:00 a.m.) – The Missouri Highway Patrol is reporting two fatalities in the crash that closes Highway 65, South of Chillicothe, for several hours Thursday night.

The report from Troop H says a southbound pickup driven by Nicholas R. Lawson, 23, of Chillicothe, crossed the center line and struck a northbound car driven by Orville C. Cooper, 49, of Bosworth. Cooper was pronounced deceased at the scene and Lawson was transported to Hedrick Medical Center where he died of his injuries. The crash occurred just before 7:00 p.m. Thursday and closed the highway until after 11:00 last night.

CHILLICOTHE, MO – A major traffic accident is how Livingston County Sheriff describes a situation south of Chillicothe that materialized before 8 p.m.

According to their post, Highway 65 is closed 4 miles south of chillicothe to allow responders to work the accident. Motorists will have to find alternate routes.
