UPDATE: (11/13/15) 7:45 a.m. The Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office reports that both lanes of Hwy. 65 are open. They were closed about 4:40 a.m. as crews fought a mobile home fire. One lane was opened about 5:50 a.m.
UPDATE: (11/13/15) Highway 65 at the South end of the Waverly bridge has just opened to traffic after a motor home burned earlier this morning. The Waverly Fire Department was dispatched at 4:05 and immediately called Carrollton and later Alma to assist. The highway was closed by law enforcement about 4:40 and finally opened about 10 minutes before 6:00. Emergency crews remain on scene so please be alert if you are driving in that location.
WAVERLY, Mo. – A motor home fire closed Highway 65 at the South end of the Waverly bridge this morning, November 13, 2015.
The Waverly Fire Department was toned out at 4:05 and advised that the motorhome was becoming fully involved and contained propane canisters. Shortly after arriving on scene, Waverly called for mutual aid from the Carrollton Fire Department for manpower and water. Law enforcement closed the Highway at 4:40 and just after 5:00, Alma was called to provide additional water.
If you normally travel Highway 65, you may might want to take an alternate route.
