Collecting good used shoes for clean water projects in underway by the Lexington United Methodist Church and Grace United Methodist Church in Higginsville. “It’s for the Shoeman Water Project that originated in Columbia, Missouri,” explained Yates, “They take shoes no one wears anymore that are still in good condition and send them to developing countries that need a better way to support themselves. From there they get sold and the money from the sale of the shoes goes to fund the purchase of equipment for drilling wells and running water lines in the communities.”
Yates stated they had set a goal of 1000 pairs of good used shoes by March 1. She said the project is now known as Solea Water.
