The United States Meat Export Federation see’s the talk of a second beef checkoff an incentive to reach a compromise on changing the current beef checkoff. President and CEO of the federation, Phillip Seng, says he believes U.S.D.A. Secretary Tom Vilsack is pushing the proposal of a second checkoff to force the organizations involved in the Checkoff Working Group to reach a compromise.

Seng added that what determines our ability to compete internationally, depends on the ability to cooperate. He urged the groups to reach a comprise so the industry can move forward.
