CARROLLTON — A stolen vehicle reported out of Carroll County has been recovered.

Information from the Sheriff’s office released today indicates a Chevy Silverado taken around September 5 or 6 was recovered in Ohio. The suspects, Johnny and Mallory Tavares, had been identified from security footage at Carroll County Memorial Hospital. The truck reportedly fled east on 36 Highway. Johnny Tavares was listed on multiple out of state warrants. The couple was taken into custody after a short vehicle pursuit.

Carrollton police also filed animal abuse charges in the case, after finding an injured dog in need of surgery, inside a previously abandoned vehicle believed to have been used by the couple.
