MISSOURI – Lloyd Lyon, the Secretary for the Hale Masonic Lodge Post 216, has an update for our listeners on the progress of his latest vet project. Following the death of World War II veteran Ben Sprouse, Lyon along with other lodges and American Legions have began compiling a list of Missouri veterans who would like to receive visitors or conversation partners. The group is also looking for volunteers to visit with, read to or simply sit with veterans.
Lyon explains more in an interview with KMZU’s Ashley Johnson.
In a more recent interview with KMZU’s Ashley Johnson, Lyon explains the updates thus far.
Lyon also encourages teachers to sign up their classroom as a visitor. Many veterans would find enjoyment in a child taking the time to visit them, drawing a picture expressing their appreciation for the service of a veteran, or reading a short book to them.
If you know of a veteran or veterans in your area that would enjoy a visitor, or if you would like to volunteer to be a visitor, contact Lloyd Lyon at (660) 542-1702 or email him at firstname.lastname@example.org.
