U.S. Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler
from Missouri’s 4th Congressional District will be the honorary host
of the 2011 Missouri Business Conference planned for Wednesday, Sept.
28, at the University of Central Missouri.
Registration opens at 7:30 a.m. in Elliott Union 234. Following remarks
by UCM President Charles Ambrose and Hartzler, four panel sessions are
planned for 9 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. Panels topics
include Planning and Doing, New Media: Leveling the Playing Field,
Alternative Financing, and Growing Your Business.
Eighteen business leaders and entrepreneurs will lead the panel
discussions, followed by open networking for panelists, conference
participants and exhibitors. Among the panelists will be Danny
O’Neill, founder of The Roasterie in Kansas City; Joe Kessinger,
principal at the Capitus Group; David Keller, president of the Bank of
Missouri; Joe Lieberman, founder of SPIDERtel; John Burgess, director of
strategy and innovation at Walsworth Publishing Co.; Julie Cortes,
founder of the Freelance Exchange; and Jeff Danley, founder of Freestyle
During lunch, Hartzler will present awards for the “Big Idea”
student competition for UCM student entrepreneurs.
The event is free and lunch is provided, although prior registration is
