WASHINGTON, — Speculation about the current Secretary of Agriculture’s plans for after he leaves office has been floating around. Vilsack refuses to comment, but AgriPulse reported a source near Vilsack has revealed Vilsack could be planning on becoming the CEO of the U.S. Dairy Export Council (USDEC).
Tom Suber, the most recent CEO of the USDEC announced his retirement last month. Suber served in this role for 21 years and also is a founding member of the USDEC.
AgriPulse reports that Vilsack’s experience with export partners and the dairy industry make him more than qualified to lead the USDEC.
Secretary Vilsack is standing firm on his decision to not make any comments about his future plans until he is done with his term.
