Organizers are currently recruiting volunteers to help with work days scheduled at Camp Sacajawea in Sedalia. Click to hear KMZU’s Kristie Cross talk to Chairman Debbie Busker:
Busker said the area has been in need of attention for quite some time. “We have storm damage from an ice storm that came in several years ago,” said Busker,” And then with the realignment from GSUSA, properties were placed on hold and now we are at the point where we can start cleaning this up. So, in that time frame of approximately five years, we have growth and a lot of dead in the woods from that damage.”
Volunteers are asked to bring chain saws, hand pruners, trucks, and trailers if they have them available.
The first work day is scheduled for Saturday, July 11th from 7 a.m. to noon and another will be held next weekend on Saturday, July 19th. Anyone who is available to help is asked to contact the camp by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
