WARRENSBURG, Mo.- The City of Warrensburg held their first city council meeting of the month last night, October 12, 2015, over a very light agenda. A closed meeting followed by a study session was held before the public meeting began at 7:00 p.m.

Roll call was taken and the consent agenda was adopted. A presentation of Breast Cancer Awareness Month was made by the Fire Department to start the meeting. Pink fire department shirts were handed out to each council member.

There were three ordinances that needed to be voted on by the council. First ordinance was adopting a section for trespassing in a motor vehicle. An initial gap in the law is what prompted the ordinance and the council voted to adopt it. The second ordinance was to execute a development agreement which essentially gave Michigan Sporting Goods Distributors to construct a sign to put up in Hawthorne Plaza and as long as sales reaches two-million dollars annually over a 10- year span, the sign space is free. The development agreement was adopted. The last ordinance was to push projects that have not completed from the 2015 budget forward to the 2016 budget, the council adopted that ordinance as well.

Two other business appearances were listed on the agenda next. A building permit fee discussion was held and a city official requested fees do not be raised after comparisons to other cities. Warrensburg sits in the middle of the pack when it comes to the fees. Next was a request by Pat Cook, Christmas Store Administrator, requesting $600 out of the Stevenson Fund to provide meals for the upcoming holidays. It has been a yearly request and the council accepted.

Miscellaneous matters were taken care of last yesterday. The City Manager discussed the benefits of the City Council Chicago trip and spoke on the potential retail development connections that were made. Director of Finance reported on the new budget availability online, city hall, and the local library. Also the audit was rescheduled. Meeting was then adjourned. Warrensburg City Council will meet again Monday, October 26, 2015, at 7:00 p.m. in the council chambers.
