A former international student charged in the death of a Warrensburg business owner will appear in a Johnson County courtroom this (Mon.) afternoon for a pre-trial conference. Bond for Ziyad Abid, a 23-year-old Saudi Arabian national is set at $2 million cash. He’s accused of allegedly hiring co-defendant, 27-year-old Reginald Singletary to murder 25-year-old William “Blaine” Whitworth last September. Whitworth’s body was found on Sept. 1 in the driveway of his home. Both men are now charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action. Abid will go before Judge Michael Wagner at 3 p.m. Singletary is set for a pre-trial conference August 5th.
