One of the people allegedly involved in the murder of a Warrensburg resident has been determined a flight risk. Ziyad Abid, 23, was denied bond at an arraignment Friday afternoon. A second person arrested in the case, Reginald Singletary, 27, continues to be held on bond of one million dollars. According to the probable cause statement, Singletary said he shot William “Blaine” Whitworth, 25, in his driveway on Saturday at the request of Abid. Both were charged Thursday with murder and armed criminal action.

Reginald L. Singletary, age 27 of Warrensburg and Ziyad T. Abid age 23 of Warrensburg were arraigned in Johnson County Associate Circuit Court this afternoon of First Degree Murder and Armed Criminal Action charges. Bond on Singletary was continued at $1,000,000. Bond an Abid has been denied and he will be held without bond. Johnson County prosecutor Lynn Stoppy presented a motion for the court to consider that Abid was a flight risk. After hearing testimony by Major Case Squad Member Johnson County Sheriff Chuck Heiss and no rebuttal from Mr. Abid, Associate Court Judge Wanda Sue Dodson ruled that Abid would be held without bond. Both prisoners were transported back to the Johnson County Jail.
Singletary, age 27 of Warrensburg was arrested in Sedalia, Missouri Tuesday, September 4t hand brought back to Warrensburg to be questioned by Major Case Squad investigators and booked on First Degree Murderand armed criminal Action charges.
Shortly after midnight Wednesday, September 5th, Abid age 23 of Warrensburg was arrested by Warrensburg Police in Warrensburg and booked on First Degree Murder and transported to the Johnson County Jail pending the filing of formal charges.
At this time, the Missouri Rural Major Case Squad has followed 127 leads in this case.
