Grass fires were an issue throughout the KMZU listening area this weekend.

Reports indicate the North Central Fire Protection District fought a cover fire on Route C at County Road 201 in Carroll County Sunday night. A large area was scorched and the line grew out of control due to high winds. No injuries were reported and the cause of the blaze remains unknown.

Also the Chillicothe Fire Department had at least two they had to take care of yesterday (Sun). According to reports crews were dispatched to Route V just east of Chillicothe at about 10:30 a.m. When they arrived it was discovered half an acre was on fire just north of a home. Investigators found the cause was due to a controlled burn becoming out of control. No injuries were reported.

The next was Sunday afternoon at around 4:20 p.m. when firefighters were dispatched for mutual aid with the Hale Fire District for a grass fire at Route J and County Road 369. About 30 acres was burning when they arrived at the scene. Investigators could not determine the cause.
