MORGAN COUNTY – Effective immediately, a 20 ton weight restriction has been place on vehicles crossing the Lamine River on U.S. 50 in Morgan County. The bridge is located approximately four miles west of Syracuse.
During a routine inspection by MoDOT bridge engineers, some deterioration on the bridge was discovered that warranted the weight restriction. MoDOT plans to make repairs to the bridge beginning the week of April 18, weather permitting. The work is expected to last approximately three weeks. After the repair, most vehicles, including standard tractor-trailers, will be allowed to cross the bridge.
During repair work, one lane will be open to traffic and crews will flag traffic through the area. MoDOT will have various types of traffic control in place to secure the safety of the motoring public as well as their employees. MoDOT encourages motorists to buckle up, slow down, follow work zone signing and drive safely through the area.
