Veterans are invited to the Wentworth Military Academy grounds in Lexington to be recognized and honored for their service and sacrifices. “We felt like here at the Academy with the faculty staff and core of cadets,” said Lierman, ” We would like to recognize the veterans in the area for their service to our nation. So we are going to have a recognition luncheon and cadet review parade in their honor. Lunch is at 11:30 in our dining hall and we are inviting them to come have lunch with us and then be part of the reviewing party for our dress parade. The cadets will perform that after lunch.”
After the recognition lunch, veterans will be honored. “The dress parade is something that Wentworth has done for years,” Lierman said, “It is what we call a cadet review. The cadets march on parade and have a short 10 to 15 minute ceremony. When the parade is over, the final part of the parade is a pass and review. Cadets will come by and do an eyes right salute, for whoever the reviewing party is. Our expectation is to have all the veterans be a part of that reviewing party.”
The lunch is scheduled for November 23rd at 11:30. R.S.V.P.’s are required by the 10th. To R.S.V.P., you can call Col. Rick Cottrell at 660-259-6004 or e-mail the Colonel at [email protected]
Veterans and a plus one will eat lunch for free, each guest past the first will pay $5.
