A 77-year-old Pettis County man was killed in an early morning fire at his residence just southeast of the Windsor City Limits. Crews were called to the scene on Brandon Road shortly after 7:00 a.m. Monday. Investigators discovered the body of Eldon Harbit in the rubble. The cause of the blaze has yet to be determined.

A 77 year old Pettis County resident was killed in a Monday morning structure fire at his residence just southeast of the Windsor City Limits.

Windsor Fire was dispatched to the scene on Brandon Road shortly after 7am this morning. After extinquishing the fire, investigators discovered the body of Eldon Harbit in the rubble.

The cause of the blaze has yet to be determined, however the State Fire Marshal has been called in to assist in the investigation.

In addition to Pettis County Sheriff’s and Coroner Offices and Windsor Fire Department, other agencies assisting in the incident included: Lincoln & Green Ridge Fire Departments; and Henry & Benton County Sheriff’s Offices.
