Press Release from the Missouri Department of Transportation

JEFFERSON CITY – With heavy snow in the forecast, Missouri Department of Transportation officials are encouraging motorists to stay home once they get there and limit travel during the storm. MoDOT crews are prepared for this latest round of winter weather and will be out in full force plowing state highways.
“The fewer people on the road, the better we can do our job and the safer it is for everyone,” MoDOT Director of System Management Don Hillis said.
If you do have to travel, MoDOT urges you to plan ahead, take your time and know what you’re up against by checking the department’s Traveler Information Map. Located at www.modot.org, the map gives drivers an up-to-the-minute view of road conditions for major Missouri highways. Conditions for major routes across the state are color-coded to give visitors the information they need at a glance.
Travelers can also call MoDOT’s toll-free number, 888-ASK-MODOT, to get road condition information.
