LAFAYETTE COUNTY, Mo. – A Utah woman has been sentenced for drug trafficking in Lafayette County.

Prosecutor Kristen Ellis Hilbrenner announced Tuesday, that Sheila Pellegaud, 25, of Sandy Utah was sentenced May 1, to 12 years in the Missouri Department of Corrections. Pellegaud pleaded guilty on March 20, to felony Trafficking in the First Degree after her co-defendant Saul Corrales-Rodriguez pleaded guilty to the same charge on May 15.

The couple was arrested after they attempted to avoid a Drug Checkpoint on Interstate 70 near Route T, and 143 pounds of marijuana was seized during the stop.

Corrales-Rodriquez will be sentenced at a later date.
