LINN COUNTY, Mo. — A New Cambria resident was seriously injured when she was hit by a vehicle in Linn County early Wednesday morning.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the incident happened in the 200 block of Baker Street in Bucklin at about 12:35 a.m. Wednesday.

A pick-up truck driven by Bucklin resident Jose R. Montoya, 18, was reportedly traveling north and driving erratically in a residential yard and struck a pedestrian in the yard.

That pedestrian was identified as 27-year-old Amanda R. Hepworth of New Cambria. She was seriously injured when she was struck by Montoya’s vehicle. She was flown by Life Flight Eagle to University Hospital in Columbia to receive care.

Montoya was arrested at 1:42 a.m. Wednesday in Bucklin. He is now preliminarily charged with felony counts each of allegedly driving while intoxicated with alcohol resulting in serious physical injury, armed criminal action, assault in the second degree and first degree tampering with a motor vehicle.

Montoya was taken to the Macon County Jail where he was placed on a 24-hour investigative hold.
