The Wood Heights Fire Department is hosting a toy drive today.  Assistant Chief Kline said this is the first year for this type of event.  “Our crews are at the station more and we’re wanting to reach out into the community and just help out as much as we can with the kids and families,” said Kline.

All items collected through the effort will stay in the local area.  “We have adopted one family at this time and, depending on the donations, we will possibly adopt more,” said Kline,”So, it’s not going to be limited to just toys.  We will take any type of donation people bring in to us.”

The drive is being held at the fire station from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the corner of 10 and M Highways in Wood Heights.

Collections are also scheduled for both the 13th and 20th of this month.
