RAY COUNTY, Mo. – A Lawson man is wanting a new judge in his child abuse case in Ray County.
The attorney for Gary Matthew Wyant, 32, filed a motion for change of judge Friday. This judge granted a bond reduction earlier this week from $100,000 to $50,000 with 10% allowed. Wyant is charged with eleven counts of abuse or neglect of a child – no sexual contact, tampering with a victim of a felony prosecution and tampering with evidence in a felony prosecution.
Two children told investigators that Wyant bound their hands and taped them in cardboard boxes and beat them with a paddle or belt for punishment.
Wyants next court appearance is scheduled for November 13.
