The long awaited trial of a former Callao School Superintendent and her friend commences Monday in a federal St. Louis courtroom. Elain Kay Young, 57, was indicted in October 2009 for conspiracy to commit murder and one count of murder for hire in connection to the shooting death of her husband.
The federal indictment alleges Young and Katherine Mock, 57, of Cassville, caused the death of Melvin Griesbauer so that Young could collect on his insurance policies. Griesbauer was found gunned down near a barn at his Novinger home in March 2006.
Young’s attorneys filed a motion for continuance Tuesday asking for a new trial date. At this time, both Young and Mock are still set to go before a jury Monday.
Young was employed by the Callao School District from 1999 to 2003.
