The Missouri Department of Economic Development has awarded about $220,000 in tax credits to the North Missouri Center for Youth and Families. Click to hear KMZU’s Sarah Scott speak with Executive Director Daniel Savage:
Thanks to the award, Missouri business owners who donate to the center will receive a 70 percent tax credit at the end of the year.
“They can have a farming income, any Missouri-based farm operation is eligible to make a donation. And any individual who owns rental property and receives rent money from those properties are also eligible to make a donation,” said Savage, “And you’re simply limited by your liability as far as the amount of donation that can be made.”
This could mean more than $330,000 for funding to renovations for the Center’s building. They are currently renovating the former Savage Grocery building in Chillicothe. When completed, it will be used to house a comprehensive after-school program and family resource center. They hope to install a computer lab, classroom space, kitchen and dining space, and administrative offices.
All the paperwork can be handled at the Center’s offices in Chillicothe, or potential donors can have the paperwork sent to them.
