The application for the Missouri State Fair Foundation Youth in Agriculture scholarship is now available and this marks the first year that a $5,000 platinum scholarship will be awarded.  “It’s being offered by the Youth in Agriculture supporters,” said Mergen, “We also have a $2500 Supreme Scholarship, as well as thirty $1500 scholarships which are sponsored by the Missouri State Fair Foundation and the Youth in Ag supporters.  We’re really excited to be offering the new $5,00 scholarship that will certainly come in handy to deserving winners.”

Mergen also reviewed the qualifications for applicants.  “They must be high school seniors and active members of 4-H or FFA,” said Mergen, “They need to have plans to enroll in an accredited Missouri college or university and pursue a degree that somehow involves agriculture.  They also must have participated at the fair as a 4-H or FFA exhibitor in any capacity.  The only stipulation is that they cannot have sold livestock in a Missouri State Fair Sale of Champions auction.”

Applications must be postmarked no later than February 2, 2015 and are available online at the Missouri State Fair or Missouri State Fair Foundation websites.
